YPIE__FEST
YPIE__FEST is a cultural festival that took place on Sunday 26 June 2022 at the Ypelaerpark in Tilburg. The festival was organised by a group of residents of Tilburg North for children, youth, and the elderly from Tilburg. The festival focused on culture, identity, fashion, music, and talent development. YPIE__FEST was organised with the aim of inspiring the residents of Tilburg North and especially teaching the children and youth tools and skills they can use in their daily lives.
Multiple activities took place during YPIE__FEST. These included performances by DJ Silvienne, DJ Chnzo and Rapper Miigii.
Shoes and clothing were widely represented at YPIE__FEST, including streetwear clothing by Sang Froid, a vintage market by Mama Sita’s (R-newt) and a cool sneaker exhibition by Exqlu / Youzyss / DP.
There were food and drinks from Rondetafelhuis and Stichting Warm Hart. Ruru Styling provided cocktails, event styling and clothing. Domme Kar Schaafijs and Beter Stokhasselt provided refreshments by serving ice cream.
You could also get creative during several workshops, such as making your own T-shirt or an YPIE flag. As well as several Henna workshops, hosted by Warda Chikar.
When it came to sports, there was plenty to do. You could play basketball, do kickboxing with Esma Hasshass or take part in the 'street panna' tournament, organised by the youth of football club Willem II. The materials for these activities were lent by Sport Support. Willem II also brought along their mascot Kingo. For the little ones, there was a large bouncy castle.
There was also no lack of exhibitions at YPIE__FEST. For instance, Noordvoerders and The Scene were represented with their projects and the results of the projects organised as part of Second Skin Tilburg (varying from film, video, and photography) were on display in community centre ‘De Ypelaer’.
The result of The Hooooooodie Project was also shown at YPIE__FEST. Fashion designer Antoine Peters revealed the final result; a hoodie with sleeves of no less than 212 metres!
