The Hooooooodie Project

Designer and artist Antoine Peters developed ‘The Hooooooodie Project’ for Second Skin Tilburg: a collaborative artwork that connects people through fashion and the process of creation. Everyone, regardless of age, hometown, experience, or skills, was able to contribute to this effort to create a hoodie with the longest sleeves in the world.

Antoine: "Everyone wears clothes. That is why it is such a wonderful conversation starter; to be introduced to something new through something as mundane as clothing. This could be a technique or a craft, or it could be another person. It could be through the creation process, or through the artwork. Because the more people that add a piece of themselves to the artwork, the more stories, memories and personalities become connected. Literally and figuratively."

‘The Hooooooodie Project’ was a playful record attempt and exhibition all in one. The result was presented during YPIE__FEST on 26 June 2022, at the Ypelaerpark in Tilburg North. Nearly four hundred people - ages 7 to 70 - participated in the workshops in Tilburg or made a piece from home. The result was a hoodie with sleeves no less than 212 meters long, with the participants' many personal stories woven into it!

Did you create a piece for The Hooooooodie Project? On this page you will find all* the pieces that have been made!

*We did our best to photograph all the pieces separately before they were attached to the final sleeve. Can’t find your piece on the page? Let us know!

Antoine Peters (Vorden) is a Dutch fashion designer. In 2004, he graduated from ArtEZ Academy of Fine Arts Arnhem and obtained his master’s degree at the Fashion Institute Arnhem. He began by presenting his work on the catwalk, but now his work moves within fashion, art, and architecture. The relationship with clothing and the human body is a unifying factor. Playing with perception is an important theme in Antoine Peters' work; he believes that the space around a garment is as important as the garment itself. In doing so, he wants to break the traditional relationship between person and garment and make people literally and figuratively look at clothing and at themselves from a different perspective.
